    Go Skateboarding Day
    6/23/2005

I went out to the Tempe park with the usual bro's (Bucky, Scott, Robbie, Wez, Colby, Steve) We were interviewed by a channel 3 news guy who was curious about 30+ skaters. I told him I started skateboarding in 1972 and had boards older than my teenage kids. He shot lots of vid. A hail of locust descended on the park and we crunched them mercilessly with our wheels until our decks were gooey and stinky from the guts. The crew thinned out at 9:30 and I took extended runs until the park closed. Good times were had by all.

Yeah, as for Go Skateboarding Day, you see, I work in the Industry, so we took a half day off and left at Noon, chartering a private bus to the Etnies Skatepark in Lake Forest, on the way we ate food catered from Chili’s and had raffles of which I won a new Birdhouse 70s style complete that’s set up to look like a Logan Earth Ski. Oh yeah and of course we had our morning skate brake at 10-10:30 where I rolled my ankle on one of those little boards riding the 7 foot high quarter pipe we got out front. But at least that board will be good for Bella.

When we got to Etnies, I spent a lot of time skating the pool of course. And who should show up but Lance Mountain and Lester Kasai... Good times were held by all. Where did you skate???

SkateRock is Music For Skaters by Skaters
Skate Rock wasn't born, created or invented. Skate Rock was inevitable. Skaters are skaters first and foremost and whatever other labels society tries to lay on us are shunned. We define ourselves. A big part of that is making our own music. Musical influences from outside skate culture were filtered, twisted and adapted. Skaters took the loud fast and angry parts of punk, stripped away the fashion pose, and injected new ideas and humor to create Skate Rock. For skaters by skaters.

Believe in the Skate Culture Revolution! Long live Skate Rock!
