X Live in Los Angles DVD 5/22/2005
OK, There may be a few poor souls who don't know who X is so let me clue you in. X is a band from Los Angles that emerged from the first wave of west coast punk before the "punk sound" was codified and rehashed. They are a true original, mixing punk energy, rockabilly riffs and lyrics of cheating, loving, loss and desperation into something that can't be pigeonholed. They survived and thrived well past their punk contemporaries to become a true all-time great band; genres be damned. If you haven't been in the front row of an X concert, with Billy Zoom's silver sparkled Gretch guitar turning your ears inside out as he smiles down at you in his leather jacket well, I pity you. X has a well deserved reputation as a can't-be-missed live show; always delivering with energy and enthusiasm that keeps the material relevent.
Die Hunns stormed into town to crank out a high energy set at the Mardi Gra in Scottsdale, AZ. The small stage could barely contain the mayhem created by Duane and crew. Corey capped the evening off with her usual fire show which was really scary in the low ceiling, cramped club.
At the opening of Tempe's skatepark Frontside Five did an impromptu show. The BMX kids were there protesting the fact they couldn't ruin the park for skaters. When Frontside Five blasted into the title track of their latest album, No Pegs, the BMXers knew it was time to go hit the dirt jumps.
