    Hit After Hit

    The Briefs

    By Michael Cornelius

When The Briefs cranked into Silver Bullet at the EMP III show (chorus: Kill Bob Seger right now!) I was hooked. They take the skinny tie pre-hardcore punk sound and bust it out as fresh as ever. Forget the circle pit, its time to freakin' POGO!

    The Briefs

    OK, so what's your names?

C: I'm Chris Briefs from The Briefs
S: My name is Steve E. Nix I play guitar and sing in The Briefs.

    Where are you guys from?

    C: Seattle.
S: Anchorage, (we laugh) It's true I was born in Anchorage and moved to Seattle.

Steve and Chris How did this get started?

C: I don't know... meat packing plant. Steve worked at a meat packing plant.
S: I worked at a fudge packing factory.
C: He was good at it.

Is everything you do hard and fast?

S: Yeah, we all really love punk rock and water seeks it's own level.

    Are you guys skaters?

    C: Yes

That's very good. Seattle has lots of parks. I've ridden seven this weekend.

C: Lots of parks and lots of rain. There's indoor parks and a few of them I haven't been to yet.
S: I just joined an over 30 skateboarding club.

What is the name of it?

Steve E. Nix S: A.S.S. Adult Skateboarding Society. We go down to the skatepark 10-midnight three days a week and kick all the kids out. It's a fuckin' blast.

Man, I wish I could do that, kick the kids out for the old guys

C: I'm not old enough to join. I tried; I'm like -sneak me in!

    You need a fake I.D.

C: I don't like coming down to these parks during the day because, to me, a lot of people are just like jocks with skateboards. So that bugs me but there are a lot of cool people too. You'll see me early mornings at the skateparks.

What's up next for The Briefs?

C: We are going to europe for about five weeks from the end of October through November.

Do you have a CD out?

Chris C: Yes, we have a full length out (Hit After Hit) and we've got 6 singles out. One is a split with The Spits who are really good. All skaters...

Are you touring on your own or are you going out with another band?

S: For europe we are going to tour on our own and hopefully get set up with some good bands over there.

Where can people find out more about you?

C: TheBriefs.com, that would be a good place.
S: Or go into any decent punk rock record store and you can find our stuff.

    Thanks guys.
