    9 Volt

When You hear the term "melodic rock" you probably think of some holdovers from the 70's crooning over whining guitars. Well, let me redefine it for you. Or should I say let 9 Volt redefine it for you.

9 Volt Melodic; as in sticks in your head, as in grabs you and builds you up to the...

Rock; as in hard, simple and clean.

9 Volt was started in Tempe Arizona by local veteran musicians. They have since transplanted themselves to San Diego California. Their debut CD was originally released under the band name but they have gone back in the studio, added three tracks and re-released it as "Swimming in Gasoline". The three added tracks gave a fine album even more power and depth. It has been well received by fans and radio stations across the country.

The CD was recorded at Pumpkin Studios in Chicago and produced by Gary Loizzio whose credits include Styx and REO Speedwagon. Songs on the album range from all out fuzz fests to simple and clean guitar ballads. On every song 9 Volt shines as a power trio. There is great use of dynamics to build tension and every member of the band stays away from excess and instead focuses on the core of the songs. 9 Volt is definitely a band on the rise. If you get a chance check out their CD.
