Santa Rita Park
5/03/2009
The new Santa Rita Park in Tucson is killer. It has a small snake run, a mellow yet ripable kidney pool and a monster 11 foot deep egg shaped keyhole. The concrete finish is flawless thanks to California Skateparks. After skating we ate at Las Cazuelitas right across the street from the park and it was really good. Here are afew shots from Michael C. and Pat McG:

Perfectly Fine at Sickenburg
4/25/2009
The AZPX beer cooler trophy is now in the hands of Jimmy The Greek who definitely earned it the seventh Sickenburg jam. Jason got the new Shitty Skateboards trophy for his above-the-call-of-duty frontside air from the deep to shallow. It was a perfect day for a picnic in the park. The Wickenberg bowl was even better than I remembered it. I don't know why I have not been out there in two years. Rubber Toe rules when it comes to stoking the AZ skate scene.

Skateblast 2009
3/30/2009
Doug Miles and Apache Skateboards once again put together an event that has no equal. Artists, DJ's, musicians, photographers, poets, and skaters connected the dots between all of their ideas and influences. At the humble San Carlos Skatepark boundless creative energy was unleashed, prizes awarded and swag tossed.
After the contest the scene shifted to the new San Carlos Cafe where indian tacos and fruit plates were scarfed inside while an impromptu rail jam for quick cash went down on the front porch. Once everyone found their way to the spot on the hill the music began. The cross pollination of musical influences was apparent as bands mixed mashed and moshed old into new and new into old. Pompadoured Apache's slammed rockabilly blues into overdrive. Petite California girls skanked under the clear desert sky. Brian, Carter, Cory and myself were honored with the opportunity to back up Debora Iyall while she sang 3 songs. JFA wrapped up the night with a short set. Brian soldiered on despite the serious head bongo from the night before. Yet again history was made in the high desert of the San Carlos Apaches. I can't wait for next year.

The night before Skateblast Brian stage dived to concrete and cut his head open. He got looked over by the paramedics and was OK.
